When we do travel with a toddler out of town or even out of the country, children are sometimes shocked by the differences that exist at home. One of them is a striking difference of time. Here’s how to cope
Time changes. Traveling to another city or country that has a striking difference in time, could affect the infant. Difference of one hour, the effect is not large. But if more than three hours clearly affects the child’s biological clock, so the routine of sleeping, waking, and eating will be shifted.
Travel across the equator makes children experience jetlag. The symptoms are: drowsiness, lethargy, nausea, confusion, headache, insomnia or irregular sleep patterns, dehydration, loss of appetite, and sensitive.
If this is you let it, can upset a child’s sleep pattern which if continued will affect on her health. Here’s how to overcome them;
1. Make sure children get enough sleep the night before departure.
2. Enough to drink on the plane to avoid dehydration.
3. Take him move the body with a gym or a walk around the cabin so that his feet are not swollen due to sitting too long.
4. on arrival at destination, immediately adjust the biological clock (as you do), such as eating and sleeping hours, local time. This helps the body adapt to the changing times.
5. Sunbathing. Exposure to sunlight stimulates the body’s cells to adapt to new environments.
6. Resting before the move. The time delay causes the body to quickly adapt.
7. Encourage the child to move to stimulate active immunity, in order not to hurt.
8. Provide food, and without recourse, try eating schedule. When a child is refusing to eat, do not be forced. Give small portions but frequently. At first your child may be sleepy because it is still subject to impact of jet lag.
